Biography of Rev. Eleanor L. Rooks
“I will bless the Lord at all times and His praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalms 34:1) is Rev. Rooks’ verse by which she lives. Born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia, PA, Rev. Rooks has perpetually displayed a servant’s heart; since her youth she has expressed the love and desire to serve God as well as praise Him through song. This love became more evident when she joined Nothing but The Word Deliverance Church in Florence, New Jersey in 1995 as one of its original members. Under the leadership of Apostle Patricia A. Phillips, Rev. Rooks began to develop and display her various gifts including leadership and teaching while learning the full biblical importance and principles of worship. She was the congregation’s first Children’s Sunday School Teacher as well as the pioneer of the church’s Children’s Church Ministry. She also served as the director of the Single’s Ministry and director of the Nurse’s Ministry. She was one of the first original members of “The Voices of Praise” and later joined the Mass choir in which she sang for more than ten years. However, it was not until she joined the praise and worship team of “Divine Purpose” that her calling as a worship leader began to surface.
After wedding Elder Calvin B. Rooks in 2000, Rev. Rooks later joined Christ of Calvary Covenant Church Ministries International in January 2005. She was recognized by the founder, the late Pastor Abner L. Fortson and current Senior Pastor Dr. Rodney D. Rogers as a teacher and true worshiper/worship leader and appointed the director of the church’s praise and worship team, the first in the history of the congregation. Alongside her husband, former Associate Pastor Calvin B. Rooks, she served as co-director of youth ministries for 10 years at Christ of Calvary and was appointed as a Master Teacher and developer for the church’s Covenant Catechism Academy where she enjoyed teaching the gospel to those of all ages. In September 2012, Rev. Rooks was licensed to preach the gospel and began serving on the church’s ministerial/leadership staff.
Rev. Rooks is a registered nurse currently employed as an acute Clinical Care Manger in geriatrics and has graduated Suma Cum Laude from Eastern University on December 12, 2015 with an advanced degree in nursing. She received her certificate of completion from Rivers of Life School of Ministry in 2019 for completion of The School of The Prophetic and Seer and is currently enrolled in additional classes at Rivers of Life in the advanced courses for Prophetic Ministry. She resides in Lansdowne, PA with her husband Pastor Calvin B. Rooks and their two daughters Anjelica and Christina.
